Basic Pilates Moves

These basic moves can be done outside on a mat, or inside. I love to take my workouts outside for some added bonus of fresh air and vitamin D. Contact me for any assistance on alignment and form for these moves or for a pilates session.

 

Basic plank. Spice it up with single leg lifts. Make sure you are actively engaging your core the entire time and really squeezing your glutes. This can be modifyed by dropping down to your knees as seen below. A great little circuit is tapping your knee to each elbow and then lifting the leg back up into plank for some extra core work.

 

Rocker is great for massaging the back. Make sure to still engage your core and keep your abs tucked in. That's why I love pilates- each move is a chance to keep your power house (core) engaged.
